Munk,
Calendar Girl, Loveless, Quitter The
Noise ... Loveless' Dave Wanamaker is rock cool personified, wearing a Gentlemen T-shirt and firing up a cigarette. The band tears through a flawless set of majestic pop that blows me away. Though the vocal level is low, there's zero hesitation in their set; songs unfold seamlessly. Dave's guitar comes to the fore, with its swells of vibrato and perfect tone. Jen Trynin does a Sonic Youth style feedback section that leads into the gem "Tonight," and I hear a harder edge on their closing tune, "Suicide Machines," with its pugilistic mantra of power chords, than anywhere else in their music... |
